When trying to maintain a caloric deficit with the goal
of fat loss one of the biggest challenges is hunger.
Choosing mostly whole micronutrient dense foods is
one of the best ways to feel satiated while eating
fewer calories.
This is because whole foods are typically much higher
in volume relative to their overall calorie content
versus processed foods.
For example 300 grams of strawberries (which is a
huge bowl) contains 100 calories versus a chocolate
chip cookie typically contains ~200 calories.
It's important to point out that neither of these foods
should be considered good or bad. There are no good
or bad foods only a balance of energy.
Your main focus should be on
1. Your total calorie needs (based on your current goal)
2. Eating an optimal amount of protein
3. Getting in a sufficient amount of micronutrients to
support your overall health.
As long as 1, 2, & 3 are in place you can choose to eat
whatever you want. The only time something becomes
bad for you is if it's over consumed. Focusing only on
the three things listed above will keep everything in
balance while at the same time allow for flexibility with
your food choices.
There is no need to over complicate this process.
Unfortunately too many people fail because they do
just that. Instead keep it simple and focus your effort
on what actually matters. Be sure to make room for
flexibility and the things you enjoy.
Getting your mind in a healthy place around food is critical for your long term success. My goal is to help you
develop a healthy mindset that empowers you to make
choices that not only get you to your goal, but that are
actually realistic and sustainable for you.
Hope this helps! ✌️
